What is Clean Energy?
Clean Energy is electrical power and thermal energy generation making as little contribution to GHG emissions as possible. It reduces losses of transmission by generation at the proximity of the load, and reduces electrical and thermal load demand requirements through the use of intelligent control systems. Clean energy utilizes renewable sources and/or non-combustion generation, whenever possible, as well as highly efficient simultaneous generation of electricity, heat and cooling.
Recent U.S. Energy Information Administration analyses suggest that the electricity sector is likely to be the source of the vast majority of domestic energy-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions prior to 2030, if either a tax on GHG emissions or an economy-wide cap-and-trade program is adopted as the primary instrument to reduce these emissions. Almost all other analyses reach a similar result. With the passage of various State Acts and international agreements, caps on GHG emissions will continue to be established, and reductions mandated. Clean Energy will be a major component in compliance with these GHG Emission caps.
