Complete renovation of 100K SF research facility, originally designed as a biology / microbiology research center - mechanical, electrical and plumbing design. The researchers wished to conduct empirical chemistry research, which required advanced mechanical, electrical and plumbing, air-handling, water, and laboratory vacuum systems. During renovation the physical layout of the building had to be carefully considered to accommodate the code mandates for chemical control zones and the Coastal Commission. The client was able to maintain full operations during the renovation by very specific sequencing and constant communication among all team members.
