Retail Conversion to Colocation

Scale Matrix renovated an existing retail building into a high-density colocation facility for a Tier III Data Center. The Phase-1 scope included an initial build-out of the mechanical and electrical systems to support 50 to 80 colocation enclosures with future phases to support a build-out of 500 to 700 colocation enclosures. The renovation utilized the existing 2000 amp, 480/277 volt SDG&E service to support both the data equipment loads and the mechanical central plant loads. All mechanical equipment has N+1 level redundancy in order to allow for concurrent maintenance of mechanical equipment while the chilled water plant is operating. Phase 2 included central plant upgrades and Phase 3 – service entrance upgrades.
