Lighting Provides Safety
and Appeal

Lighting design for a new pedestrian bridge that was part of a larger underground tunnel and trolley station project for the Metropolitan Transit Development Board of San Diego. The steel and concrete bow-truss design of the bridge provides a new link for the campus as well as a strong identity for SDSU and the surrounding community. The lighting design strengthens the nighttime identity of the bridge by washing the 220-Ft. arching truss with red light. Additionally, the stainless steel supporting cables glow with white light along the entire length of the bridge while custom pathway lights integrated into the handrail provide a warm and safe crossing. The piers supporting the ends of the bridge are bathed in a yellow light grounding the bridge into the surrounding environment.
