Gensler Architecture, 2 Harrison Street, Office Remodel, San Francisco, CA
Gensler decided to reinvent their headquarters by moving away from the financial district to a more natural setting at the Embarcadero, with expansive views of the Bay Bridge, lots of daylighting coming through windows, and an open style environment . Randall Lamb provided MEP engineering for this global architecture firm’s tenant improvements located on the second and third floors of the historic building, formerly of Hills Brothers Coffee fame. Using sustainable principles and guidelines, Gensler integrated local and regional materials, sustainably harvested and salvaged wood, and rapidly renewable and natural materials. The scope of the project included a variety of conference rooms and huddle/work rooms, some with multi-media and AV capabilities. Additional spaces included the entry hall, reception and lounge areas, private and open office areas, staff lounge, lunch room, library and support space.
